How to Stock a Home Bar With Mixers

Mixers are an essential part of any home bar. In addition to providing a variety of flavors, they add the fizz to the Gin Fizz and the red color to the Bloody Mary.

Things You'll Need:

  • Clear Cola
  • Club Sodas
  • Coffees
  • Cola
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Cream
  • Ginger Ales
  • Grapefruit Juices
  • Pineapple Juices
  • Sour Mix
  • Spring Waters
  • Tomato Juice
  • Tonic Waters
  • Cola
  • Tomato Juice
  1. Step 1

    Keep clear cola and ginger ale on hand for mixers.

  2. Step 2

    Stock regular and diet colas as a mixer for heavier drinks.

  3. Step 3

    Keep a variety of waters and sodas on hand such as club soda, also called soda water or seltzer water, which contains sodium bicarbonate; spring water; and tonic water, which is bubbly and flavored with fruit extracts, sugar and quinine.

  4. Step 4

    Stock coffee for hot drinks such as Irish coffee.

  5. Step 5

    Keep light and heavy whipping cream on hand.

  6. Step 6

    Make sour mix, used in many drinks, by combining lemon juice and a little sugar.

  7. Step 7

    Store cans or bottles of fruit juices such as cranberry and pineapple, which are difficult to make fresh.

  8. Step 8

    Use fresh-squeezed lemon, lime, and orange juice, if possible.

  9. Step 9

    Stock tomato juice if you plan to make Bloody Marys.

Tips & Warnings
  • Milk or half-and-half can be used instead of cream.
  • Mixed drinks contain alcohol, so use moderation.
  • Never drink and drive.
