    The Rules of the Game

  1. Step 1

Lay the stack of cards face down.

  2. Step 2

Everyone cuts the deck for the deal and the person who draws the highest card deals first.

  3. Step 3

The dealer then deals one card face down to a single player and one card face down for himself or herself.

  4. Step 4

The player privately looks at his/her card and bets any quantity of beer.

  5. Step 5

The player keeps the first card face down, and asks for additional cards (takes a hit) trying to get as close to 7.5 points as possible. The player can take as many hits as he/she wants.

  6. Step 6

If the player's hand exceeds 7.5 points, he/she has lost (gone bust) and has to drink the amount bet.

  7. Step 7

Once the player stops taking cards, the dealer must turn over his/her down card and take hits. If the dealer goes over 7.5 points then he/she has gone bust and must drink the bet.

  8. Step 8

Otherwise, the dealer takes hits until he/she is satisfied with the cards. The player then turns over the hidden card for all to see. Whoever has the lower count loses and must drink the amount bet.

  9. Step 9

The deal rotates counterclockwise until everyone has had a turn and all the cards in the deck have been played.

  10. Step 10

If a player gets five cards and does not have more than 7.5 points, he/she automatically wins the hand. The dealer cannot take any hits, loses the hand, and has to drink the bet.

  11. Step 11

If the player has five cards that equal 7.5 points, the dealer can try to tie the round and win.

  12. Step 12

When the deck only has six cards left, gather up the excess cards, reshuffle, and begin again.

  13. Setting Up the Deck and Scoring

  14. Step 1

Take a regular deck of playing cards and remove the eights, nines and red tens.

  15. Step 2

To tally your score, remember that face cards are worth 1/2 point, aces are worth 1 point, cards 2 through 7 are worth face value and black tens are worth 7 1/2 points.

Tips & Warnings
  • The deal goes from the highest and moves counterclockwise until everyone has had a turn.
  • You can't leave the game until after you have dealt a hand.
