Have a nice singing voice doesn't mean you can sing like a professional. There are several tips to enhance your singing, which can improve the overall tone and sound of your voice. Even if you don't have the best singing voice, the right breathing techniques and vocal training can help improve your sound.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Practice proper breathing techniques. To sing like a professional, proper breathing is essential. Place one hand on your stomach and inhale. If breathing properly, your stomach expands. Your chest and ribcage should not expand.

  2. Step 2

Learn how to relax. Several factors can impact your singing voice. If you want to sing like a professional, learn different ways to relax and release tension. Your facial and jaw muscles may clench when nervous or anxious. Additionally, throat muscles may tighten.

  3. Step 3

Raise your soft palate. To improve your sound and tone, learn how to make the voice resonate. Life your palate and place your tongue near the back of your teeth. This way, sound can travel from the throat.

  4. Step 4

Improve your posture. One of the best ways to improve your voice and sing like a professional is to practice good posture. Keep your back straight and your legs shoulder-width apart. Also, keep your chest lifted and expand the lungs.

  5. Step 5

Know your singing limitations. Many professional singers have injured their vocal chords by straining or singing too loud. To keep a healthy voice, sing within your range. There are techniques to "gradually" expand your range. You can also avoid vocal chord damage by taking periodic singing breaks.

  6. Step 6

Get a vocal coach. To sing like a professional, you may need to hire a vocal coach or a singing teacher. They'll help you learn voice control, proper breathing and relaxation techniques to improve your sound.
