How to Modify Cross Reference Formats in WebWorks

WebWorks was created to help streamline the publishing process. With the program, users can edit and publish for print, web and other electronic devices. WebWorks allows you to cross reference different formats to help serve you better.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Open the file you want to cross reference in WebWorks. Choose "File" and "Open." Choose the file and select "Open."
Step2
Choose "Format" from the top tool bar. Pick "Cross Reference Rules" from the drop-down menu. This opens a box with another drop-down menu. Choose the document type you are using. This setting pops up as Microsoft Word.
Step3
Select the format you want to use in the cross format process from the list. Double-click the name to activate it.
Step4
Move to the replacement field and make any changes to the cross reference.
Step5
Click "OK" to apply the modifications. The modifications remain until they are deleted or modified again.
Step6
Delete a cross reference by repeating Steps 1 and 2 and selecting the cross reference you want to delete. Double-click the cross reference to select it.
Step7
Select "Delete Cross Reference." This deletes the cross reference permanently unless it was on the source file.
Step8
Close the "Edit Cross Reference" menu. Click on the "X" in the top right corner.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can't delete a cross reference format that is in the source file. It may show that you deleted it but every time the project is saved and reopened the source cross references reappears.
