There are many different ways to roll out curly hair, one of which is to roll out the back in a row, and then separate the side into two sections and roll them out as well. The following steps show you how to section out the side of the head when rolling out the hair.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Part the hair on the side and flip the hair over so that you only have 1/3 of the hair on the side that you are working on and the other 2/3 out of your way.

  2. Step 2

Make another part from the middle of the top part down to just behind the ear to separate the side in half. This part should be at an angle going away from the face.

  3. Step 3

Take a small section of hair at the very top in the back section that you've made and comb it out so that it can be rolled.

  4. Step 4

Roll out this section so that the roller is horizontal. Make the hair as flat as possible and angle the hair as you roll it down and under and place clips on the roller to keep it into place.

  5. Step 5

Continue downward, rolling all the hair down in a row so that each roller is touching.

  6. Step 6

Finish rolling the side by repeating the same procedure in the second section, which is closest to the face.

  7. Step 7

Repeat this on the other side of the head to complete both sides.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a willing volunteer, enlist their help in rolling your own hair. It's difficult to get the right lines in your own hair the first few times.
  • If you're rolling someone else's hair, make a conscious effort to keep the hair out of her face so she's comfortable while you're rolling her hair.
