The United Kennel Club or UKC requires that bully breed dogs be inspected by a certified UKC bully breed inspector. Because of the lack of inspectors in some areas, UKC is always looking for qualified inspectors. The inspector's job is to make sure that the dog meets breed standards and has a good disposition.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn the UKC breed standards for the bully breeds. The breed standard is a basic outline of what UKC considers to be normal for each breed. You can find this by going to UKC's website (see Resources) or by calling UKC at (269) 343-9020.

  2. Step 2

Become familiar with the inspection process for UKC. Inspectors must verify that the three photos submitted to them by the dog owner are the dog that they are inspecting. They have to check the paper work to be sure that everything is filled out correctly. They have to make sure that the dog is friendly and a good steward to the breed. Inspectors have to fill out a form and mail it in with the papers from the owner, the pictures and a form of payment.

  3. Step 3

Prepare a resume of your experience with bully breeds. It is important that you include all of the time you have invested in bully breeds such as the amount of time you owned the dogs as pets. If you are a judge for UKC or another recognized kennel club, such as ADBA, you are automatically qualified to be a UKC inspector.

  4. Step 4

Submit your paperwork to UKC. You can email them your resume. They will let you know if they need anything else from you. In some cases, you may have to participate in a training seminar over the phone.

  5. Step 5

Be prepared to have another inspector or UKC official watch your first inspection. If you are located far from either one of these, you may have to videotape your first inspection and submit it with the paperwork for the dog.
