The United Kennel Club (UKC), founded in 1898, is the largest purebred dog registry in the world. The UKC holds dog breed events including agility trials, weight pull events, Coon hound field trials, water races and conformation events. A licensed United Kennel Club judge judges these events.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make sure you meet the requirements for being a judge. You must be at least 21 years old, in good standing with the United Kennel Club and be in good physical shape. A job as a judge with the UKC requires a lot of standing and walking.
Step2
Determine which level you are seeking. There are senior field trial, licensed field trial and qualified TAN judges.
Step3
Submit a letter of recommendation from your local dog breed club. At least three club officers need to sign the letter. Make sure that you have good references and experiences with the breed you are going to judge.
Step4
Fill out an application that states you have attended an education lecture. Send the necessary application fee with your application.
Step5
Take a judge's test. You can get the test information on the United Kennel Club website.
Step6
Write and submit a resume with your qualifications. The UKC wants to be sure that they hire and license qualified judges. The decisions judges make in the show ring can influence a breed. The United Kennel Club is looking for judges that have good judgement and ethics.
Step7
Wait about 30 days to hear from the United Kennel Club about the status of your application. If they deny your application, you can reapply within 60 days.
