The American Bully Kennel Club or ABKC is a specialty registry for bully breed dogs such as the American Pit Bull Terrier. Registering a dog with the ABKC allows your dog to earn points at dog shows that can add up to your dog becoming an ABKC Champion.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Register at the Show

  1. Step 1

Make a copy of your dog's registration certificate and three generation pedigree. ABKC accepts dogs who are registered with either the United Kennel Club (UKC) or the American Dog Breeder's Association (ADBA).

  2. Step 2

Find the ABKC representative at the show. He will have the necessary paperwork for you to fill out.

  3. Step 3

Fill out all of the paperwork completely. You will need the registration numbers, names and colors of your dog and of its sire and dam.

  4. Step 4

Submit payment for your dog's registration. Keep in mind that at some shows, you may have to pay an additional convenience fee to help pay for the representative's costs to attend the show.

  5. Step 5

Ask the representative for a receipt that shows the amount you paid. Make sure that the dog's name and your name are on the receipt.

  6. Mail Your Dog's Application to ABKC

  7. Step 1

Go to ABKC's website (see Resources) to download the application. You will need to download a single registration to register one dog or the litter registration to register an entire litter. Keep in mind that both the dam and sire must be registered with ABKC in order to register an entire litter.

  8. Step 2

Fill out the application. You must complete every section of the application. Leaving anything blank will make your application take longer. In some cases, it may denied because of missing information.

  9. Step 3

Gather your supporting documents and make a copy of them. You will need your dog's registration certificate from UKC or ADBA and a copy of at least a three generation pedigree. The pedigree must have the seal from the issuing kennel club.

  10. Step 4

Decide on the form of payment you will use for your application. You can find the price and forms of payment accepted on the application.

  11. Step 5

Place the ABKC registration application, supporting documents and payment in an envelope and mail it to the address specified on the application. Make sure that you put postage on the envelope.

  12. Step 6

Keep in mind that dogs registered with the ADBA may need to be inspected before they can be registered with ABKC. If this is necessary for your dog, ABKC will notify you by phone, email or mail.
