How to Update Preferences on eBay

EBay has created many interfaces within the site that make the buying and selling experience for the member user friendly. One such area is called "Preferences." This sets your preferences in regards to everything from email preferences to purchase and selling preferences. Here's how to update your preferences on eBay.

• eBay account

1. Sign into your eBay account. The front page of eBay will give you the choice of signing in or creating an account. Click "Sign In." On the following page simply input your "User ID" and "Password."

2. Go to the "My eBay" page. The "My eBay" link is a tab which is located at the top of the page. Click it and you'll be routed there.

3. Scroll down the left side of the page. Under the "My Account" heading, you'll see the words "Notification Preferences." Click that link.

4. Look at all of the preferences within your account. On any you choose to update, simply click the "Show" link found to the right.

5. Click "Edit" on the sub-heading of the preferences you wish to change.

6. Change your preferences to your desire and then click the "Save" button.

7. Repeat these steps for other aspects of the eBay site. For instance, there are sub-heading tabs in which you can control "member-to-member communication" or your "selling" preferences if you are an eBay seller. The process is the exact same once you click on those links.

Tips & Warnings

• If you create an eBay store, be sure to update your preferences. As you start selling items, you'll find your inbox and email stuffed full of emails, usually up to four per transaction. That can become quite confusing so narrow down the correspondence to only what is necessary to run your business.
