Step 1
Download the shell extension program from Allscoop.com (see Resources). This will set up the virtual drive on your system and match it to the space on your Gmail account. All control of the drive will occur from your computer's Windows Explorer screen.
-
Step 2
Complete the installation by entering your Gmail account name and password. Click the box to show "Auto Login." Now when you try to open your Gmail account in Windows Explorer, you will see the list of current files stored on it.
-
Step 3
Copy, store and back up data to your new Gmail drive. You can manipulate and replace files with copies from your home PC. The Gmail drive can serve as storage space for a project. Keep the current status of project files on this drive for access by members of a team. Each member can update their version of the project files by downloading the files located in the Gmail site.

Step 4
Store your pictures and avatars that you use online on the Gmail drive. Disk storage space is important when you need to post messages that contain figures and diagrams. The figures and diagram files must be located on some drive in cyberspace.
