You've invested a fair amount of money in your LED Christmas lights, so the last thing you want is moisture from being outside to get into the metal parts and cause the lights to rust. Here are some things you can do to keep your LED Christmas lights working year after year, without getting rusty.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Install the LED Christmas lights close to the sides of your house to prevent moisture getting to the lights. If you install the LED lights on the roof or away from your house, moisture from rain and snow can affect their performance.

  2. Step 2

Buy protective coverings for your LED lights. These coverings can protect your lights from moisture and from rusting throughout the Christmas holiday season.

  3. Step 3

Dry the lights if they get wet. After a rain or snowstorm, go out and take a dryer or towel to your lights. This will remove much of the moisture and continue to protect your lights.

  4. Step 4

Keep your LED Christmas lights up for only a short period of time over the holidays. Consider putting the lights up only a week or two before Christmas and taking them down immediately after the holiday to avoid excessive moisture.

  5. Step 5

Place your LED Christmas lights on the insides of your windows rather than on the outside of your house. Placing your LED Christmas lights in the windows allows you to show off your Christmas spirit without the problems associated with your LED Christmas lights rusting.
