How to Avoid Getting Buttock Boils
Boils are a swelling of the skin, usually at the site of an infected hair follicle. The swelling contains pus, which will emerge when the boil gets large enough to burst. One common place for boils to occur is on the buttocks, specifically between the cheeks. Follow these steps to prevent boils in this area.

1
Boost your immune system. You need to drink plenty of water, eat healthy foods, get enough sleep and exercise. A lack of these things makes you more susceptible to developing boils.
-
2
Keep the buttocks clean and dry. You may choose to apply a powder to the area to keep it from getting too moist. If you sweat from exercise or work, take a shower as soon as possible. For the best protection, wash your buttocks with an antiseptic soap.

3
Use an abrasive cloth or brush to clean your buttocks during your shower. This will exfoliate your skin, making hair follicles and sweat glands less likely to become infected. Remember to wash your cloth or brush in hot water every few days.

4
Wear cotton clothing, including undergarments so that your skin can breathe. Synthetic fibers, such as polyester, won't allow enough air to reach your skin and therefore cause moisture build up.

Avoid alcohol and drug abuse, as these toxins circulating in your body can increase your chances of developing boils.
Don't share personal hygiene products such as lotions or washcloths with other people. In addition, avoid the use of products such as petroleum jelly or greasy creams on the buttocks.
