A baker's rack is a set of high, decorative shelves. About half way up the rack is a wooden shelf, usually with drawers built to hold bakery items. Many people use these racks in entryways, dining rooms or kitchens. If you own a bakers rack, you may be wondering about cleaning it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the materials. If the rack is composed of wood, use a polish to keep it clean and healthy. If it's sealed wood, a simple damp cloth may do to clean it. You may even be able to use a simple kitchen cleaner-check your owner's manual and the directions on the kitchen cleaner.

  2. Step 2

Use a damp cloth or even a dry cloth to help keep dust off the more decorative portions of your bakers rack. To do a proper cleaning you need to take any display items off and dust those items too-but for a quick cleaning, simply run a cloth over the rack and your display items.

  3. Step 3

Try not to use your bakers rack for too much kitchen stuff such as putting damp items on, putting hot tins on from the oven on or for chopping on. You may end up damaging your bakers rack.

  4. Step 4

Line the drawers on your bakers rack, if it has them, with shelf paper. This can make it easier to clean up after ink or cooking spills if items spill in your drawers.
