How to Make Ghost Lanterns for Halloween
Halloween is a time for ghosts, goblins and witches. Make ghost lanterns to put in your front yard and give your visitors a friendly holiday scare. Start saving your plastic milk jugs if you plan to make several ghost lanterns. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Several plastic gallon jugs
- Lids from the plastic jugs
- Black permanent marker
- Craft knife
- Christmas lights
- Outdoor electrical outlet
- Extension cord

Wash the milk cartons with soapy water. Rinse them with clean water. Prop them upside down so the water can drain out.

Put the caps back on the milk jugs. Draw a ghost face on each jug using a black permanent marker. Leave the caps on while drawing to the jugs don't cave in with the pressure from the pen.

Cut a 2-inch hole in the back of each milk jug with a craft knife. Make the hole bigger if the lights are larger than typical Christmas lights.

Set the Halloween ghost lanterns up, leaving a foot or so between each milk jug. Plug the lights in. Push several lights into the lantern that is furthest from the outlet. Lead a string of lights to the next lantern, then push several lights in it. Continue until all the lanterns have lights.

Use several strings of lights if you have more than three lanterns or want more lights for each ghost. Plugs the strings of lights into an outlet and admire your work.
