Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Be yourself when you approach the person. This can be one of the hardest things to accomplish because it's all about confidence. If you're confident in yourself, then you will be yourself. Think of it this way; the worst the other person can say is no. And if he or she does, there are many more bars with many more beautiful people in the world.
Step2
Offer a warm smile. Because the thought of speaking to someone you don't know can be completely unnerving, there is a propensity to approach the person in a manner that is too direct. It's as if you simply want to blurt out the pickup line to get it over with. Take your time, relax and offer a warm smile before you speak.
Step3
Make fun of the line as you say it. Let's face it, pickup lines are a bit cheesy. So don't force the old "You tired?" Then she shakes her head. Then you say "Well, you should be. You've been running through my mind all day." Make fun of the line in the way you deliver it. Say it as if you know how incredibly cheesy the line is, however, just to get a chance to talk him or her, you'll put yourself through a moment of self-humiliation. Small doses of self-humiliation at the onset of a conversation are endearing. (Just don't lose the confidence.)
Step4
Be original with your pickup lines. After all, many women have heard every line in the book. So if they've already heard the line, then hearing it again will only turn them off. It will only remind them of the last guy who tried to pick them up with that very same line. Take a moment and try to notice something about the person. Something interesting. Her features, how she's standing, what she's wearing. Constructing a line around any of those things will be fresh because it is something that is true about the person at that very moment.
Step5
Make eye contact with the other person. The final piece of improving the pickup line is to actually look the other person in the eyes. It seems simple enough, but many times you'll look to the side of the person, or down at the floor of the bar. This is because you are lacking the confidence in what you are about to say. Keep focused on the person you want to meet. Truth be told, if there is a physical attraction, you can pick up the other person by reading the phone book.
