How to Use an Email Notifier

Email notifying software allows you to know when you receive emails at the moment you receive them, regardless whether you are watching your email. Email notifying software is always running on your computer desktop and alerts you with a sound or a visual notification when a new email arrives. Here's how to set it up.

Instructions

    • 1

Download ePrompter or another free email notification program. These can usually be downloaded for free (see Resources). But there are more elaborate email notifiers available at a price. Install the software on your computer and run the program.

    • 2

Click on the setup feature of your email notification software. Here you will enter your email account information. Most email notifiers ask for information like your full email addres, your password and your POP3 account information with your email provider. If you are unsure what to enter your POP3 line, contact your email provider for that information.

    • 3

Set your email notifier to an audible notification, a visual notification or both audible and visual notifications. Send yourself an email and watch as the notifier alerts you that you received an email.

    • 4

Read your email from your email notifier without ever opening your email account on your computer. Email notifiers typically allow you to read, respond and delete your emails as they come in without having to load your email program.

    • 5

Monitor how many new messages you have in your email account by watching the alert function on the email notifier. Your software will keep a running tally of unread emails for you to watch while you do other things on your computer.
