How to Spot the Do Not Email Registry Scam
In 2004, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a news release that exposed the National Do Not Email Registry website as a scam. The appeal of reducing spam and unwanted email drew many to this now inactive website which con artists used to capture email address and personal information that could be used by spammers and identify thieves.

1
Refuse to submit your email address or any other personal information to any National Do Not E-mail Registry website. The FTC suspects the National Do Not Email Registry was a ploy to acquire valid email addresses for sale to spammers. Although the initial website is inactive, someone may create a version of it to revive the scam.

2
Don't accept any imitations. In 2004, the National Do Not Email Registry website appeared as a carbon copy of the National Do Not Call Registry. Both were scams as was the National Do Not Spam Registry.
