You can use Microsoft Excel to compile, compute and interpret copious amounts of data. While Excel does have some complicated functions, the ISBLANK function is straightforward and easy to use even if you haven't much computer expertise.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Open the Microsoft Excel software program. Select the "Start" button from the operating system menu and click on "Programs" or "All Programs," depending on the operating system. Choose "Microsoft Office" on the program menu and click on "Microsoft Excel" to open the program.
Step2
Open the spreadsheet file. Click "File" from the main Excel menu. Select "Open" from the file menu and locate the spreadsheet. Double-click the file to open it in Excel.
Step3
Position the computer cursor over a blank cell in the spreadsheet and left-click the mouse to select the cell that will receive the output from the ISBLANK function.
Step4
Type the following in the cell you selected in the previous step: "=ISBLANK(C6)." For this example, C6 is the cell in which you will apply the ISBLANK function.
Step5
Press the "Enter" key on the computer keyboard to view the output from the ISBLANK function. The output should appear as either TRUE or FALSE. Any other result indicates an error.
