How to Get a Piercing Without Your Parents Knowing

Legally, you don't need parental approval to get a piercing in some states. Ethically, it is open to interpretation. However, if you are bent on getting a piercing despite your parents' disapproval, then you can try a few of these tips. At the same time, be prepared to get caught and accept the consequences.

Instructions

    • 1

Get the piercing somewhere that is typically covered by clothes that your parents don't see anyway, such as your navel or genitals. You won't be wearing any short shirts around them, but you can always wear two shirts and take the top one off when you leave the house.

Wear your hair long over your ears if you are thinking of piercing your ears. Even though most parents are cool with ear piercing, you might have that rare one who is not. Keep your hair over your ears and when you have to put it back, as you might for for swimming, just take the earring out. Holes are often hard to detect once they have healed, and you can go days and weeks without them closing up on you.

Tell your parents you have a sore throat and can't talk if you get a tongue piercing. It will usually be swollen for a couple days and hard to hide. After that, consciously talk with your mouth barely open around your parents and don't open up in a big laugh.

Purchase a clear stud that you can put in your piercing when you are around your parents. Odds of them seeing it are less than if you have steel or gold posts.

    • 5

Stick with really small holes. The big holes are harder to hide and you have to keep a big bone in them to keep them open anyway.
