When you first sign up for Myspace, it seems like the coolest thing in the world. You have your own little space, an area in which you can share your thoughts to the world. But if you've suddenly been bombarded by people wanting to make you their "friend" and want to cancel your account, here are some tips on what else you need to do besides clicking "cancel."

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Myspace account
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Make a list of everyone who you still want to keep in contact with on Myspace. Myspace is great for helping to foster both personal and professional relationships. Write down all of your "friends" that you still want to keep in contact with.

  2. Step 2

Send them an email via Myspace explaining that you are going to take down your Myspace page. You don't need to give a particular reason, but if you feel pressed to do so, simply say that you continue to get spammed.

  3. Step 3

Include all of your contact information so that close friends and professional relationships can keep up with you. That old adage "out of sight, out of mind" certainly rings true in our fast-paced culture, so you want to make sure people know how to get hold of you.

  4. Step 4

Go through the normal steps of canceling your account by clicking on "account settings" and then "cancel my account." Once you verify it, you have successfully canceled your Myspace account.

Tips & Warnings
  • Unlike some of the other social networking sites, once you cancel your Myspace account, it is gone forever. Some other sites retain information in case you change your mind.
