How to Change or Create Desktop Icons for Windows
Your computer comes loaded with icons for your desktop. Even though those icons are predetermined for you, it doesn't mean that you're stuck with them. You can add icons or remove them as needed in a matter of seconds.

Change Desktop Icons

Click on the "Start" button, which is typically located at the bottom-left corner of your computer screen. Highlight and open your Control Panel to access the area you need to change your desktop icons.

Look for the option labeled either "Display" or "Personalize" depending, on the version of Windows you're running. Click on it to open a box with more options.

Click the tab labeled "Effects" or "Change Desktop Icons," again, depending on the version of Windows you run. This opens another box of options that will include a variety of icons.

Select the icons you want to use. Click on "Apply" at the bottom of your selection box and then hit the "Ok" button to close the options box. Your new icons will be displayed on your desktop.
Download New Desktop Icons

Locate the icons you want to use and download them to a folder on your desktop so you can easily find them.

Right-click on the folder to open a selection of options and highlight "Properties." Once you've selected that, another options box appears.

Find "Change Icons" on that list and click it. This tells your computer to use the icons in the folder as your desktop icons.

Close all the option boxes and your new icons should display on your desktop.
