Easy eggs, more commonly known as soft-boiled eggs, are boiled long enough for the whites and yolk to be mostly cooked but still soft. The precise time you cook a soft-boiled egg depends on the number of eggs you're cooking, as well as the size of the eggs themselves.

From Quick Guide: Incredible Eggs
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Let the eggs come to room temperature before you begin to boil them.

  2. Step 2

Put the eggs in a sauce pan so they're nestled together in one layer and unable to move around. Laying them like this prevents them from bumping into each other, which can crack the shell.

  3. Step 3

Fill the pan with just enough water to cover the eggs, then remove the eggs from the pan.

  4. Step 4

Put the pan over high heat and bring the water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, turn it down to a simmer and gently return the eggs to the pan.

  5. Step 5

Time your eggs. Small eggs will boil in a little more than 2 1/2 minutes. Medium eggs will boil in about 3 minutes, and large eggs need to boil for about 3 1/2 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Remove the pan from the heat and place it in the sink. Turn on cold water and let it run over the eggs for several minutes to end the cooking process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Adjust the timing of your eggs according to the amount of eggs you're cooking and to suit your particular taste in soft boiled eggs.
