Few people wash their windows twice a year as is recommended. But there is nothing that transforms a room as much as clean windows. With just a few common supplies, you can clean windows like a professional and experience a bit of instant gratification.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Rinse windows outside with plain water first if they are really dirty. Add just a squirt of dishwashing liquid to a bucket of warm water. Wash the window with soapy water.

  2. Step 2

Use a soft toothbrush to remove dirt from the corners of the windows if needed.

  3. Step 3

Put the blade of your squeegee at the top of the window and pull it straight down to the bottom of the window pane. Wipe the squeegee blade with a lint-free rag. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove the soapy water from the entire pane.

  4. Step 4

Take a damp chamois and wipe away any water remaining on the edges of the window. Dry the window sill with a rag in order to keep the paint or varnish from getting damaged.

Tips & Warnings
  • Old linen napkins or cloth diapers are good lint-free options for drying the squeegee between strokes.
  • If your squeegee squeaks too much, you might need to add a bit more soap to your bucket of water.
  • Don't use too much soap. Just a drop will do because you don't want too many suds.
