Some people are blessed with really good skin, while others go to great lengths to cultivate good skin. Whichever category you fall in, there are things you can do to improve the quality of your skin. Adhering to a good skin care regime will have you smiling at the results.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you smoke, stop. Yes, it's tough to do; but it's also critical to your skin and your overall health. Constantly puckering your face when you smoke creates lines and wrinkles that are difficult to get rid of, and they age your face.

  2. Step 2

Reduce the amount of alcohol you consume. Alcohol is dehydrating, and dehydration is the enemy of good skin.

  3. Step 3

Drink plenty of water and skip caffeinated beverages. Nearly everyone is dehydrated to a certain degree, and caffeinated beverages only add to the problem. Make drinking plenty of fresh water a part of your skin care regime.

  4. Step 4

Find a line of skin care products that works with the type of skin you have. If you have dry skin, you'll want cleansers and moisturizers that are created to work with dry skin. If you have oily skin, those same products will only make it worse.

  5. Step 5

Clean your face each morning and evening with a cleanser developed specifically for your face. If you have acne, choose a product that contains salicylic acid. Otherwise, use a product that will clean out your pores, but is light enough to wash away without leaving residue.

  6. Step 6

Purchase makeup products that are anti-aging and that have sun block incorporated into their formula. You can also find oil-free face lotion that has sun block and dab it on lightly after you apply makeup.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid mixing skin care brands when choosing your products. You don't have to spend a lot of money on a fancy name brand, but find a brand and stick to those products. They're formulated to work best together.
  • Never sleep with dirt, oil or makeup on your face. It's drying and damaging, and it increases your chances of skin blemishes.
