Things You'll Need:
- Long board
- Ocean waves
-
Step 1
Paddle out into the water in the kneeling position so you can see what type of wave is coming at you.
-
Step 2
Approach the wave as if you were about to hit the backside of the lip. The faster you paddle and jump up on your board the better chance you have of not wiping out.
-
Step 3
Pull your board to the twelve o'clock position. It is important that you get vertical for a 360 spin. If you can get your board vertical the fin will automatically spin for you.
-
Step 4
Shift your weight from the tail of the board so you the water can spin you in a 360 with ease.
-
Step 5
Slide your front foot toward the front of the board, known as the nose. Shift the bulk of your weight onto your front foot as it slides forward.
-
Step 6
Lean backward as you reach the three quarter spin mark and slide your front foot back to its original position. Stay in this position until the 360 rotation is complete.
-
Step 7
Hang on the tail of your board so you don't dig the nose of your board into the water. If you don't adjust your weight to the back of your board 3/4 of the way through your rotation, you may end up in a full dooky stance.
