Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Strawberries (three pints)
  • Lady fingers or shortbread
  • Whipped cream
  • Strawberry syrup or jam
  1. Step 1

Start by selecting about 3 pints of ripe strawberries. Pink strawberries are not yet ripe and strawberries with soft spots are overripe.

  2. Step 2

Slice the strawberries in half and sprinkle them lightly with sugar. Three pints of strawberries should serve at least four people.

  3. Step 3

Make the foundation of the strawberry shortcake with ladyfingers from the grocery or make your own shortbread.

  4. Step 4

Place half the strawberries onto half the cake or ladyfingers. This is the first layer. You can add whipped cream to this layer for an extra luxurious shortcake.

  5. Step 5

Place the remaining cake on top of the strawberries and spread a thin layer of whipped cream on top of the cake to hold the strawberries in place.

  6. Step 6

Place the remaining strawberries on top of the cake and arrange them in a simple pattern to increase the aesthetic appeal of the strawberry shortcake.

  7. Step 7

Top the strawberry shortcake with the remaining whipped cream. Add a few drizzles of strawberry syrup or dots of strawberry jam to create a beautiful dessert.
