Step1
Invite as many people you can think of, and tell those people to invite others you may not know. A dance party isn't fun unless it's jam-packed with people. It's even better when it's jam-packed with people who are getting to know one another. Send emails and make phone calls to ensure your dance party is crowded.
Step2
Choose a space with tons of room for dancing. This doesn't mean you have to rent a warehouse, just ensure there is enough headroom for the crowd and a little room to spread out. Some of the best dance parties are in basements, dorm rooms, attics and back porches.
Step3
Have a good stereo system for your dance party. Strangely, the quality of the stereo never seems to matter. Instead, it's the volume you can produce. It's important to have a stereo that is louder than the crowd's talking. If you don't have a stereo, ask a reliable guest to bring one to the party.
Step4
Select the songs for the party in advance. Whether you plan to make a playlist on your iPod or set aside some CDs that will get people moving, do it before the guests arrive so you can effortlessly move into party mode.
Step5
Prepare some food and beverages for the guests. Even if it is chips and cookies, guests love munchies. Also have plenty of water and other beverages because dancing makes people work up a sweat.
