How to Find a Family Needing Help This Christmas

There are a variety of ways you can find a family that will benefit from your generosity during the Christmas holidays. Helping others gives them a leg up in hard times and helps you teach kids the true meaning of the season.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Watch your local news. It's unfortunate that home burglaries and house fires are prevalent during the holidays. You can help the victims recover by sponsoring the family during Christmas.

  2. Step 2

Think about the people you know. Most of us have family members who are struggling to meet their monthly obligations. You can choose to help a family member make Christmas more joyful this year.

  3. Step 3

Talk to your local clergy. They know about the personal situations of members of their congregation and may be able to help you adopt a family for Christmas.

  4. Step 4

Contact your local faith-based schools. Most require their students to participate in sponsoring families during the holidays, and they may have more families than they can provide for.

  5. Step 5

Look around your workplace. Most likely, some of your coworkers are single parents, or have a spouse overseas. Share your blessings this Christmas with families who may not feel blessed.

  6. Step 6

Shop for a family that lives in a homeless shelter. Pick up heavy clothing, coats, boots, gloves and hats to help them deal with the harsh winter weather conditions. Give kids a small stuffed toy they can cuddle and carry with them easily.

  7. Step 7

Visit the local hospital to find families who are struggling to handle Christmas and medical bills. Help them celebrate a happy holiday with their ill family member.
