Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Play what you're good at. If you can't carry a tune, it's probably not in the best interests of the band to make yourself the lead singer. Stick with an instrument you have a talent for and make that your role in the band. Remember that the drummer and the bass player are just as important as the lead singer in an awesome rock band.
Step2
Recruit talented musicians who are also mature enough to dedicate themselves to making your rock band awesome. You might be able to recruit some friends with musical talents, but don't hesitate to ask around at local clubs or record stores to find the right mix of musicians. Make sure all the musicians you choose for your band get along and are willing to put in the time and practice for the band to be a success.
Step3
Hire a manager you can trust. It will help you stay organized and get you more local exposure and recognition. Your manager should help handle the money and organize your gigs. Hire someone you know you can trust to be responsible with the band's money and act in the best interests of the band.
Step4
Play lots of gigs. The more gigs you play, the more money and fans you'll make. Playing live is also great practice and will help everyone in the band improve their stage presence. You also never know when there will be a local DJ or talent scout in the audience, so play as many gigs as you can get. Don't be afraid to play the small, hole-in-the-wall bars and clubs; even the most awesome rock band has to start somewhere.
Step5
Practice, practice, practice. Organize a regular practice schedule for all members of the band and stick to it. The only way to get better is to practice a lot, but it's worth it to make your band awesome.
