How to Invite Friends to Use Yahoo! Messenger

You can send an invitation to all of your friends to join Yahoo! Messenger. Once you build your contact list, you can chat, share videos, swap photos, play games, share files and make free PC calls. Choose one of the methods below to connect with your friends.

Instructions

    Add Friends Using Your Personalized Yahoo! Messenger Homepage

  1. Step 1

    Select friends from your personalized Yahoo! Messenger Web page to invite to instant message with you. Type in your friend's email address if they aren't in your Yahoo! Address Book.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the image you want to appear on your invitation. The default is your avatar image.

  3. Step 3

    Click the "Customize your invitation" link and you'll see a list of options. You can type a personalized message with any option.

  4. Step 4

    Preview your invitation. If the message and photo are correct, click "Send Invite."

  5. Add Friends Using the Yahoo! Wizard Messenger

  6. Step 1

    Use the link provided in the Resources section below and click the "Start Adding Friends" button.

  7. Step 2

    Select the boxes of each address book you would like to access. Enter your username and password for any non-Yahoo! address books, such as AOL, Gmail and MySpace.

  8. Step 3

    Check the permission box that gives Yahoo! permission to retrieve your contacts from other sources. Then click "Continue."

  9. Step 4

    View the lists of names, people who already use Yahoo! Messenger. Remove the check marks from the people you aren't going to include in your contact list.

  10. Step 5

    Invite people to begin using Yahoo! Messenger. These people will receive an invitation that you can customize to match your mood.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can always go back to the wizard to add more contacts later. You can choose a different address book or double-check an address book to see if any of your friends are now on Yahoo! Messenger.
