How to Support Cruelty-Free Charities

When you support cruelty-free charities, you're making a pledge to protect animals from cruel and inhumane acts. Cruelty-free charities work to stop animal testing of consumer products, and have helped save the lives of mice, guinea pigs, rats and other animals.

      Turn to charitable organizations to learn about the cruel practices performed on animals. Visit the PETA website for information on the different tests done on animals in the name of scientific research (see Resources below).

      Support charities that carry the Humane Charity Seal of Approval. This organization's website can give you information on how to pick charities that strive to advance research without the use of animals (see Resources below).

      Find out which charities still support animal testing. You can find a frequently updated list the on Humane Charity Seal of Approval website. You won't want to send money to these charities until they agree to stop animal testing.

      Order the guide to "Cruelty-Free Charities." On the PETA website, request a free guide on how to pick the right types of charities to support. The guide lists charities to avoid that conduct animal testing as part of their research (see Resources below).

      Start choosing cruelty-free products. If you want to support cruelty-free charities, start looking for products that carry the cruelty-free symbol: a bunny rabbit with a slash through it.
