Step 1
Read the labels of any baby food you plan to purchase. Look for labels that state "no animal products" as well as "no animal testing." A new international logo for cruelty-free products has been developed as well. Many cruelty-free baby food products now have a picture of a bunny with a slash through it on the label.
-
Step 2
Contact the baby food company directly. Call the customer service line listed on baby food product. Ask if they have chosen to sign the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals (CSCA). This document is the current standard for cruelty-free products.
-
Step 3
Familiarize yourself with ingredients. You can use the PETA website to help you find out the names of synthetic ingredients in baby food that contain animal products or by-products (see Resources below).
-
Step 4
Locate a listing of cruelty-free baby food companies. On the In Defense of Animals website, you can find a list of companies that produce cruelty-free products for babies, including food items. Purchase your baby food from one of the manufacturers listed on the site (see Resources below).
