Cheerleaders today are a big part of sports, from little league to professional venues. Cheerleading is not just about cheering on your team; it is a highly competitive sport itself. Stunts such as the Tabletop leave the crowds cheering for more. Here's how to perform this crowd-pleasing maneuver.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine who is going to be your bases and who will be the flyers. The bases are the girls that lift and hold, while the flyers are the girls that are lifted up. You need 3 flyers to do a Tabletop.

  2. Step 2

Make sure your spotters are in place before beginning. You need at least one spotter for each flyer.

  3. Step 3

Pop two of the flyers up on to the shoulders of two bases. Each base should have one flyer standing with the flyer's feet on their shoulders. The two bases stand side by side.

  4. Step 4

Lift the third flyer up in to a shoulder level hold directly behind the other two flyers.

  5. Step 5

Have the two flyers in front bend forward at the waist until their backs are flat. Have a spotter in front of each of the flyers with their arms stretched up over their heads for the flyers to hold on to. The flyers need to be level and balanced before the third flyer comes up.

  6. Step 6

Count it out and pop the third flyer up on to the backs of the other two. Once she has found her balance, stand up straight and raise arms in to a V.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always make sure you have enough spotters when doing stunts.
  • Only one person should talk during stunts and that is the person calling out the commands (either the coach or back spotter).
