If your feet are hot, achy and tired, pamper them with an herbal foot soak. Tailor the herbs to your own specifications for an invigorating foot soak, or enjoy a relaxing soak at the end of a long day.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 gallons distilled water
  • Saucepan or dutch oven
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salts
  • 2 cups dried herbs
  • Large basin
Step1
Heat the water in a large saucepan or dutch oven.
Step2
Stir in the baking soda, Epsom salts and dried herbs.
Step3
Allow the herbal foot soak to simmer for about 10 minutes.
Step4
Pour the mixture into a large basin, and let it cool until it's comfortable to the touch.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wash your feet well with soap and water, and then soak them in the herbal foot soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat the herbal foot soak as often as you like, using a fresh batch of foot soak each time.
  • The choice of herbs you use in your herbal foot soak is totally up to you. Peppermint will sooth tired feet, chamomile, rose or lemon balm will help to relieve stress, and rosemary and lemon will refresh you. You can use one herb, or a combination.
  • Tea tree oil is known to have anti-fungal properties. Add a tablespoon of tea tree oil if you struggle with athlete's foot or other similar foot problems.
  • If your feet are dry and cracked, add a tablespoon of olive oil or sweet almond oil to the warm herbal foot soak.
