Make a big platter of deviled mice for Halloween. Boil the eggs and let your kids help you create the mice. The only problem is that these deviled mice are almost too cute to eat.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Platter
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 6 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 10 large lettuce leaves
  • 24 olives stuffed with pimentos
  1. Step 1

Put the eggs in a large saucepan and cover the eggs with water. Bring the water to a boil and lower the heat to a simmer. Put the lid on the pot and cook the eggs for 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Drain the water from the eggs and cover them with cold water. Let them sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Peel the boiled eggs and slice them in half lengthwise. Scoop the yolks out carefully with your fingers and place them in a bowl. Set the whites aside.

  4. Step 4

Mash the yolks slightly, and stir in the mayonnaise and mustard. Blend the mixture well and spoon it back into the egg whites.

  5. Step 5

Arrange the lettuce leaves on a large platter and lay the filled eggs over the lettuce with the filled sides down to create the mouse bodies.

  6. Step 6

Remove the pimentos from the green olives and cut a few tiny pieces for mouse eyes.

  7. Step 7

Slice green olives into tiny strips, and poke one strip into the rear of each mouse to create little tails. Cut 24 tiny green olive ears, and poke them above the mice eyes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sprinkle a few chocolate sprinkle "mouse droppings" around the lettuce for added effect.
