If a bowl of plain ice cream is too boring for you, and you want something different and more exciting, make an ice cream sundae. As long as you have the right ingredients, you can make an ice cream sundae for a special cool treat. Here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Glass or metal sundae dish
  • 3 scoops of your favorite ice cream
  • Sundae sauce of your choosing
  • Whipped cream
  • Chopped walnuts, pecans or peanuts
  • 1 maraschino cherry
  1. Step 1

Place the sundae dish into your freezer for at least 30 minutes to make the dish cold. A cold serving dish makes for a better sundae because it helps keep the ice cream cold.

  2. Step 2

Remove the cold sundae dish from the freezer and place three scoops of your favorite ice cream into the sundae dish.

  3. Step 3

Pour the sundae sauce of your choosing over the ice cream. Good sundae sauce choices include hot fudge, caramel sauce, fruit sauces or chocolate sauce.

  4. Step 4

Add whipped cream to the top of the sundae. You can used canned whipped cream or you can make your own homemade whipped cream. (See related eHow "How to Make Whipped Cream.")

  5. Step 5

Garnish your ice cream sundae with the chopped nuts of your choice and a maraschino cherry.

  6. Step 6

Enjoy your sundae as a satisfying and refreshing dessert on a warm summer evening or whenever you get in the mood for an ice cream sundae.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can scoop ice cream more easily if you allow the ice cream to warm up a bit before scooping. Place your ice cream carton on a kitchen counter for 10 minutes prior to making your sundae. This will make the ice cream easier to scoop.
  • Rinse the ice cream scoop with hot water to make it easier to scoop the ice cream.
  • Feel free to add other toppings, such as candies or sprinkles, to your sundae as desired.
