Your home is your haven away from the stresses of daily living. It should be inviting, comfortable and relaxing and a place where you can enjoy hanging out alone or with friends and family. Making a house into a home depends on the people who live there, the lives they lead and the personal touches they add.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Declutter your home. When you live in a crowded, unorganized space it can create feelings of stress and anxiety. Create a routine of putting things back where they belong along with your regular cleaning schedule. Your home should be clean but also feel comfortable and lived in.

  2. Step 2

Surround yourself with things you love. If you have a passion for full, stuffed pillows and fluffy and luxurious bed linens, or special prints and works of art, then by all means indulge yourself with your favorite things to make your house feel more like your own personal space.

  3. Step 3

Get rid of boring white walls and inject some color into your life. Vibrant colors or calm pastels will bring in more personality and help make a house into a home.

  4. Step 4

Cook meals in your home. Better yet, cook with your friends or family. Make sitting down together for meals a habit.

  5. Step 5

Host large holiday gatherings with extended family and friends. Bringing everyone together during special times helps make a house into a home.

  6. Step 6

Spend plenty of downtime in your home creating special memories with your family.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't allow your hectic schedule to keep you from making special memories together in your home.
