Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Waffle iron
  • Waffle mix
  • Cake mix
  • Frosting
  • Sprinkles
  • Deep cupcake pan
  • Foil
  • Oven
  1. Step 1

Pre-heat the oven in accordance with the directions on the cake package (usually about 400 degrees).

  2. Step 2

Heat your waffle iron. Also make sure that you spray it with non-stick spray as it warms.

  3. Step 3

Mix your waffle batter. Grocery stores sell quick mixes which only require an egg and some water. This is the way to go when making this recipe to save time. Simply dump the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon until the batter is well mixed.

  4. Step 4

Pour the waffle mix onto the waffle iron. You are not making a deep waffle. You want to pour about half as much batter as you normally would into the waffle iron. The trick is to make sure that you cover the entire iron.

  5. Step 5

Stir the cake batter ingredients together. During the time you cook each waffle, grab another mixing bowl and combine all ingredients for the cake batter. Again, use a simple batter which only requires an egg, a touch of oil and water.

  6. Step 6

Roll each waffle in the shape of a cone as it comes off the waffle iron. As you complete the rolling, make sure you press the edges together so they stick. Apply a little additional batter to make a "paste" of sorts which will help your seal.

  7. Step 7

Wrap each waffle cone in tin foil. This will not only allow the cone to keep its shape, but also keep the outside from burning since it is already cooked.

  8. Step 8

Fill each waffle cone with cake batter and then place into your deep cupcake pan. You need the cupcake pan to be deep enough that the waffle cone will stand up. Place additional foil in the pan for support.

  9. Step 9

Bake the cupcakes for about 15 minutes or until they pass the toothpick test.

  10. Step 10

Remove the cupcake waffle cones from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes.

  11. Step 11

Frost with store-bought frosting. Add sprinkles and decorations to your liking and enjoy the monster sized treats.
