How to Make a Corkboard Bulletin Board
If you're a wine lover looking for a way to recycle your used wine corks and if you need more bulletin board space to hang important notes, you can make a wine cork bulletin board and solve both problems. If you already have a cork collection, you're halfway there.
Things You'll Need
- 576 wine corks
- Miter saw
- Wood trim molding
- 1/4 inch plywood
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Wood glue or finishing nails
- Picture hanging hardware
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut the trim molding into four 22-inch lengths with mitered ends. Fasten the ends together to form a frame. Secure the corners using wood glue or finishing nails.
-
2
Trim the plywood to a 22-by-22-inch square.
-
-
3
Attach the plywood to the trim molding frame using finishing nails or hot glue.
-
4
Apply hot glue in a 1 1/2-inch strip at the top of the framed plywood.
-
5
Arrange the corks on the plywood square. Form a pattern of two vertical corks, then two horizontal corks. Repeat this pattern for the rest of the row, making 12 small squares of 2 corks each square.
-
6
Repeat this pattern down the rest of the plywood square. You will have 12 rows down and 12 rows across.
-
7
Allow the glue to dry. Attach picture hanging hardware on the back of the wine cork bulletin board. Add push pins and your messages.

Tips & Warnings
Apply the hot glue in small sections at a time. This prevents the glue from hardening before you attach the corks.
Change the dimensions to create other wine cork projects such as coasters and serving trays.
If you're not comfortable making the frame, use a pre-made shadow box frame to complete your bulletin board.
Pre-drill holes in the mitered corners of the frame if you plan on using finishing nails. Pre-drilled holes prevent splitting of the wood.
