How to Have a Successful Army Career
Joining the military is a life changing decision. Once you join any branch of the military, you have to decide if you want to make a career out of it. Having a successful career in the United States Army is a very attainable goal.

Pick a job that you will enjoy for the long term when you initially enlist in the Army. You will try harder to do your best if you are doing a job that you like. It is possible to change jobs during your career in the Army, but sometimes that is difficult.

Excel during boot camp and your job training. The better you do during these stages of your training, the more likely you will be noticed by officers who can help you to advance your Army career.

Follow orders. Trouble makers will have a very difficult time having a successful Army career. Keep in mind that you are only required to follow legal orders. Any order that goes against the Uniform Code of Military Justice should be reported to the proper person following the chain of command.

Reenlist. The only way to have a successful career in the Army is to reenlist when your time comes. In some cases, you will be eligible for a bonus for reenlisting. Keep in mind that the longer your reenlistment commitment, the higher your bonus.

Continue your education. Getting a college degree can help you to have a successful Army career. Think about pursuing a degree that will compliment your Army training.

Take the tests necessary to move up in rank for your job. Make sure that you study and brush up on the new advancements concerning your job before you take the tests. In some cases, there are only a certain number of spots for advancement so only those soldiers with the highest scores will move up in rank.
