Step1
Find something that makes you happy and focus on it intensely. If you have a hobby that takes your mind off your relationship problems, then put as much time and effort into that hobby as you can. This is an opportunity for you to feel important and special, and it helps relieve the stress associated with your relationship.
Step2
Avoid fights with your mate. The pressure cooker of a doomed relationship can bring on a lot of spats between two people. Avoid these conflicts, because they never help better the relationship between two people. They only make things worse.
Step3
Focus on your job more than your home life. Your job can be an escape for you. It's eight hours a day where you don't have to focus on your mate and your relationship. Work extra if you have opportunity, as it's a great way to save up for leaving the house.
Step4
Make plans to get out of your home and your relationship. For many people, their relationship is too complex to simply give up on. However, if you know it's going nowhere, begin making plans like finding a place to live and contacting a lawyer if need be.
Step5
Spend time apart from your mate. Time apart is healthy for a couple, especially if their relationship is on the rocks. Staying close all the time can be suffocating. Go out with your friends or just find things to do alone. Either way, you will feel better by getting away.
