Hard Boil Eggs
Hard Boil Eggs

In order to make many tasty egg treats, such as deviled eggs or egg salad, or even to decorate Easter eggs, you will need to have hard-cooked eggs. It's quite simple once you know how!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2-6 eggs
  • water
  • saucepan
  1. Step 1

Set all eggs gently in the saucepan, making sure to not set them on top of each other. Add cold water until it is covering the eggs by over an inch on top.

  2. Step 2

Set the pan on the stove over high heat and bring to a boil. There should be large and rapid bubbles.

  3. Step 3

Turn off the stove and let the pan sit for about 15 minutes. Then you can drain the water out of the pan, being careful to not let the eggs roll around too much.

  4. Step 4

Fill the pan again with cold water covering the eggs. Let sit until the eggs are cool to the touch. Then drain again. Remove the eggs and dry.

  5. Step 5

To peel the eggs, just tap gently to crack the shell, then roll on the counter top to break up the shell. Carefully peel the pieces off.

Tips & Warnings
  • For larger eggs, you may want to let them sit in the water after boiling a couple more minutes.
  • If you find a green ring around the egg yolk, this just means that the timing of the cooking must be more carefully watched.

on 1/24/2009 If you put the boiled eggs in cold water with lots of ice, they will peel but easier and the membrane will separate from the egg shell and you will have a perfect egg! ;0)
Also don't over cook your hardboiled eggs or a green ring will appear around the yellow - perfectly safe to eat but ugly when serving or making Deviled eggs!
We call them ANGEL EGGS in our house.

Easy to FILL THE EGGS!
Place the yolks in a plastic baggie and the mayo too - smush around into filling - then just cut a tip in a diagonal and gently squeeze the filling into the white egg cups.
