It's easy to slip a couple magic tricks into the workplace. Close-up magic is best with a couple coworkers. Common office supplies are ideal props for magic at work. Practice workplace magic and the talking (called patter) that sets up the trick in front of a mirror to work out any flaws. Here are a couple of simple tricks you can do anytime.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pen

    First Routine

  1. Step 1

Wave a pen up and down. The pen looks soft and pliant. Explain to your fellow workers that this seems like magic but it's just an illusion. You, however will perform magic for them.

  2. Step 2

Tell the audience you will show that they are predictable and ask them for a three-digit number and then reverse the number. For example, if the number is 235, reverse it to 532. Tell them you predict that the number will lead to 1,089.

  3. Step 3

Subtract the smaller from the larger and reverse that answer. For example, 532 minus 235 equals 297 and reversed is 792.

  4. Step 4

Add those two numbers together (297 plus 792). Tell the audience that the result, 1,089, demonstrates that they are predictable.

  5. Second Routine

  6. Step 1

Place a pen in one hand with the cap exposed.

  7. Step 2

Squeeze the wrist on the opposite hand so that the pen cap lifts off the end of the pen.

  8. Step 3

Open the hand holding the pen. Due to the pen being pressed into the flesh, the pen seemingly floats.

  9. Step 4

Push the two hands back together quickly and end the routine with a flourish and a simple "Ta Dah."
