How to Model a Polygon in Autodesk Maya

Autodesk Maya is a modeling and animation software that allows you to create characters and add life to them. The program has many complicated modeling and animation dynamics, but is still easy enough for a beginner to use in making a model Polygon. Read on to learn how to model a polygon in Autodesk Maya.

Instructions

1. Open your Autodesk Maya application and select a blank page, if the program does not automatically do so for you. Select the polygon tool from the tool bar and it will pop up a basic flat surface.

2. Use your mouse and the polygon edges to mold the polygon shape the way you want it. This can be done by first grabbing the top edge of the flat square and pulling it up to give it dimension and a more visual polygon shape.

3. Use your mouse and the polygon tags to push the sides in, stretch it, or mold it in other ways to create the desired shape you need. Also, by clicking on the area you want to change, a whole host of settings and options will come onto the screen for you to use in changing your polygon shape.

4. Rotate the polygon to the face where you want to work and continue molding until you have an extremely rough shape of the character, shape, face or other item you are trying to mold. You are now ready to add shapes and components to the polygon and continue molding.
