How to Make a Plane in Autodesk Maya

When working and creating using Autodesk Maya, a person's only limit is his imagination. This software uses 3D modeling and makes it accessible for any user. To get started using this software, it is important to learn to construct basic structures. One such basic skill is the ability to make a plane in Autodesk Maya.

Instructions

1. Open the Autodesk Maya software application. Click on the "Start" button from the main operating system menu. Then, select "Programs" or "All Programs" from the start menu. Next, click on "Autodesk" in the programs menu. Finally, choose "Autodesk Maya" from Autodesk menu.

2. Choose the type of plane you want to construct on the Maya grid. There are two types of planes: the surface plane and polygon plane. This example will use the polygon plane.

3. Select the "Polygon" tab from the main tab menu in Autodesk Maya.

4. Click on the "Polygon Plane" option in the polygon tab menu. It is the flat tablecloth-looking icon. If you are confused on which icon it is, simply move the mouse over the icon to view the description.

5. Move the mouse over the grind and hold down the left mouse button to draw the plane. Once you have the correct dimensions for the plane, release the left mouse button.
