If you're an adventurer that began on a snowboard, you probably get frustrated when summer comes. That is, unless you've adopted mountain boarding as a sport. The mountain board has large all-terrain wheels that allow you to practice tricks and stunts and no snow or special construction is necessary. A 180 on a mountain board is a mid-level trick but practice makes perfect.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Mountain board
  • Hill with a gradual slope

Step1
Climb on the board and go a little slower when you first practice. While you do need a little speed to perform the final trick well, practice the weight shift and body twist before you start down a hill to get the feel of the 180 on the mountain board. Use a hill with only a slight slope as you practice.
Step2
Lead downhill with the dominant foot forward, the non-dominant foot to the back and the body facing the direction of the dominant foot. If you are right handed and footed, your lead foot is the right and the body faces right.
Step3
Look behind your back and turn your body counterclockwise to partially face uphill as you bend your knees slightly. Turning your body and bending your knees gives more twist and power when you actually complete the 180 on the mountain board. Your arms should be out to maintain balance.
Step4
Jump up in the air while you straighten your knees. This jump upward lifts the board off the ground.
Step5
Turn your upper torso rapidly in a clockwise fashion as you rise in the air and move the feet and board with it until your non-dominant foot is in the front and your body faces the opposite way, the direction of the non-dominant foot. In this case, if your dominant foot is the right one, you'll face the left.
Step6
Ride the board fakie and do another 180 to get back to the original position. Remembe, fakie position has the non-dominant foot in the lead.
