Camp is what all cheerleaders look forward to during the summer, regardless of their level of competition. There is nothing better than hanging out with their best friends all week while participating in the sport they love. However, there are several considerations that should go into choosing a cheerleading camp.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what kind of camp your team needs. There are many varieties of camps including, commuter (campers travel to the camp each day and return home at night), day (these camps do not last past early afternoon every day), resident (stay day and night at the camp), All-Star (Elite performers), co-ed (male and female camp) and specialty camps (stunts or competition). Evaluate your team and figure out which you need.

  2. Step 2

Determine what type of sponsored camp you and your team want to attend. There are many choices such as UCA, USCA, World Cheerleading Association and Universal Spirit Cheer and Dance, to name a few.

  3. Step 3

Figure out what size camp you want to go to. Most junior high and high school cheerleading teams go to local colleges and universities for camps.

  4. Step 4

Contact local colleges and universities in your area. Find out the dates and cost of their camp. Ask them to mail or email you the information on the camp.

  5. Step 5

Determine how much you can spend on a camp. If your budget doesn't have enough in it for the camp, ask the athletic director or your booster club for help with the remaining amount.

  6. Step 6

Present the information you have to team members and parents. Only present the camp information that your team can afford.

  7. Step 7

Attend the camp. Enjoy your camp experience. Make sure you make plenty of pictures; it will be a time you will want to look back on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in mind, not everyone will be happy with the decision. Pick the dates that are best for the majority of the athletes.
