If you are teaching a kickboxing class, you need to give some thought to the music you play during class. Kickboxing is a high-intensity, full-body workout. The right music will energize your class and add a real kick to their moves.

Things You'll Need:

  • Kickboxing routine
  • Selection of music
  1. Step 1

Think about your kickboxing routine. Typically, you stretch to warm up, have a high-intensity workout portion and then a cool-down. During the warm-up and cool-down you want music that is slower paced to allow for relaxation.

  2. Step 2

Determine how many songs you need based on the length of your kickboxing routine. Time yourself doing your routine so that you know how many minutes of music you need.

  3. Step 3

Listen to a large sample of music. Visualize the steps in your routine and determine what music best fits the moves. Write down which songs you like and how long they run so you can piece them together.

  4. Step 4

Consider a theme of music and the people in your class. For example, have an entire kickboxing routine set to 80's hair-band songs from Def Leppard or AC/DC. Choose songs such as Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" or Hall & Oates' "Maneater."

  5. Step 5

Try out the music you selected while doing your kickboxing routine. Make sure it is the right fit.

  6. Step 6

Shop online for pre-made kickboxing CDs at websites such as Aerobics Music (see link in Resources).
