How to Create an Address Book in Lotus Notes

An address book for Lotus Notes creates a way to establish a friendly relationship with your clients. If you've got a ready-made list of clients in your address book, you're ready to do business. You can either create address entries from scratch or import information from other software.

Instructions

  1. Create Entries Directly in Lotus Notes

      Choose the "Address Book" icon on the left side of the window and then select the "Business Cards" category.

      Click the "Add Card" button.

      Type the person's name and email address in the information field, then press the "Save and Close" button.

    Import Information From Netscape

      Select "Address Book" from the "Communicator" toolbar in Netscape Messenger. Then under the "File" tab choose "Export" using the "LDIF" format.

      Choose "Lotus Notes full client." Click "Conversion Database." Then select "File," "Database" and "Open" in turn, and choose "Netscape--Notes."

      Start a "Local Document" and then press the "Create Local Migration Document." Type information in the "Address Book Section."

    Import Eudora Address Book to Lotus Notes

      Start Netscape, and then select "Address Book" under the "Communicators" tab. Click "File Import," then choose "Eudora."

      Select a mail directory from the list and import it along with any Eudora nicknames.

      Send "Imported Address Book" by selecting the "File" tab and then scroll down to "Export." Be sure to choose the "LDIF" format.

      Initiate "Lotus Notes Full Client." Go to "Conversion Database" by hitting the "File" tab, scroll down to "Database" and then select "Open."

      Start the Migration tool by selecting "Run" from the "Start Up Menu."

      Type in the Run command "c:\Lotus\Notes\nupdate.exe 3."

      Convert address book into a text file, and freshen it up with Excel.
