How to Build a House in "The Sims 2"
After creating your Sim and Sim family in the video game "The Sims 2," you'll want to build your house. You should do this right away in order to give your family a place to live. Once you build your house, you can start performing everyday activities in your new home.

1
Decide on whether you want to build an entire house or start with a pre-constructed version. With a pre-constructed version, your house is already built, but comes empty. Find these houses in the "Lots and Houses" menu. If not, pick out a lot for your house under the "Empty Lots" option.
-
2
Go to the "Build Mode" of the game. In "The Sims 2," you do all of your building in this mode.
-
-
3
Lay your foundation. Find various foundations for your home under "Foundations and Decks" in Build Mode. You can skip laying a foundation, but your home will look less realistic.
-
4
Build walls in your "Sims 2" home. Use the room tool to separate your home into multiple rooms. Draw out each room of your house, including spaces for the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room. You'll want to make each room big enough to house the furniture.
-
5
Use the door tool in Build Mode to add a front door to the home. Select one of the doors based on your budget. If you think you'll have enough money, you can add a backdoor as well.
-
6
Add in the aesthetic features of your new home. After designing the rooms of the home, choose your carpet and wallpaper from the Build Mode menu. To finish off the house, go to the roof tool and select a new roof for your home. Save the house and you have finished building.

You said that the home will look less realistic if it doesn't have a foundation. That is not true. A lot of houses in the real world do not have an above ground foundation.
